This Privacy Policy applies only to the Custom Sound for Chrome browser extension listed on the Chrome Web Store (extension ID hdblmfpbfiinepgfmmnfbokbndbifgoi). The store listing may display the name with a ™ symbol. This page does not replace the general Sound Mod website policy at /privacy.

1. Who operates this extension

Custom Sound for Chrome is part of the Sound Mod product family. The extension adds custom sound effects to everyday Chrome actions-such as opening or closing tabs, mouse clicks, scrolling, keyboard input, and notifications-using presets from the Sound Mod catalog and audio you configure locally.

For privacy questions about this extension, use the Contact page and mention "Custom Sound for Chrome" and extension ID hdblmfpbfiinepgfmmnfbokbndbifgoi.

2. Summary

  • We do not collect your browsing history. Tab and UI events are processed on your device to trigger sounds. We do not receive a history log of pages you visit through this extension.
  • Settings are stored locally. Presets, per-action volumes, mute state, and cached sound data stay in Chrome extension storage until you uninstall or clear extension data-consistent with the store disclosure that settings are kept on your device.
  • Catalog traffic is optional. If you browse or install packs from Sound Mod, standard technical logs may be created on our servers as described in the website privacy policy.
  • No sale of personal data. Personal information is not sold to third parties through this extension.

3. Permissions and why they are used

Permissions shown in Chrome and on the store listing are authoritative. Summary:

  • storage - save your sound presets, volumes, and preferences locally.
  • tabs - detect tab events so tab-related sounds can play on your device.
  • offscreen - play audio in the background without an extra visible tab.
  • Host access (content scripts) - listen for mouse, keyboard, scroll, and related UI events on pages you visit when you enable those sounds. Page content is not uploaded to us for storage.

4. Data on your device

Depending on features you use, the extension may locally store or process:

  • Custom and ready-made preset definitions plus references to audio files.
  • Volume levels and on/off state per browser action.
  • Popup and options-page preferences.
  • Short-lived signals that an action occurred (tab switch, click, key press) solely to play the matching sound.

Clear data via chrome://extensions → Custom Sound for Chrome → Details → Clear data, or uninstall the extension.

5. Data sent to Sound Mod servers

The extension may contact sound-mod.com when you:

  • Fetch or search catalog metadata for presets.
  • Download or apply a preset from the catalog.
  • Sign in on the website and explicitly connect the extension to your account (optional).

Those requests can include IP address, browser user agent, and request metadata in server logs. See the website Privacy Policy for retention and legal bases.

6. Store privacy disclosure

The Chrome Web Store listing for this extension states that the developer does not collect or use your data for purposes outside the extension's core functionality. This policy explains how local processing and optional catalog requests work in more detail. If the store privacy card and this page differ on extension behavior, the store listing controls the install-time disclosure; this URL is a stable reference for reviewers and users.

7. Account linking

Signing in on sound-mod.com and linking the extension is optional. Account-related data is transmitted only after you choose to connect-never silently in the background.

8. Children

The extension is not directed at children under 16 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the extension.

9. Security, retention, and your rights

Local data is isolated by Chrome's extension platform. HTTPS is used for network requests where supported. Server log retention follows the website policy. You may have rights to access or delete personal data we hold on servers-contact us via the Contact page.

10. Changes

We may update this policy when the extension or store disclosures change. The current version is at /privacy/custom-sound-for-chrome.
